Born in Holywood, Northern Ireland Jamie Dornan is best known for ABC fantasy series 'Once Upon a Time', the intense portrayal of serial killer, Paul Spector, in the BBC drama The Fall and as Christian Grey in the film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey. Beginning his career as a high profile fashion model for brands such as Calvin Klein and Armani, Dornan’s break into acting came with a small role in Sofia Coppola’s Marie Antoinette in 2006. Following a number of short films, he appeared as a recurring character on the popular ABC fantasy series Once Upon A Time.
In 2013, Dornan starred as the serial killer by night Paul Spector in the critically acclaimed BBC/RTÉ drama series The Fall, alongside Gillian Anderson. His performance received rave reviews with The Guardian calling it “extraordinary”, and he received both the IFTA Rising Star & Lead Actor in Television Awards in 2014 for the role.
Dornan’s recent work has included the four-part Channel 4 mini-series New Worlds, the culinary comedy Adam Jones with Bradley Cooper and Emma Thompsen and his biggest lead role to date, the titular character of Christian Grey in the film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey. Other projects include the lead role in The 9th Life of Louis Drax and the Irish feature film The Siege of Jadotville for director Richie Smyth. Dornan can also be seen starring in Anthropoid alongside Cillian Murphy, directed by Oscar and BAFTA nominated British filmmaker Sean Ellis.
For his role as Pa in Belfast (2021), Dornan received Best Supporting Actor nominations at the IFTA Awards, Golden Globes and the Screen Actors Guild Awards.
