Nathan Crowley Masterclass

IFTA Members are invited to attend an industry masterclass with Production Designer Nathan Crowley.

Nathan Crowley is a four-time Oscar nominated production designer who has worked in the film and television industry for over 25 years. Perhaps best known for his collaboration with British filmmaker Christopher Nolan, Nathan has worked with Nolan on a total of seven films, acquiring Oscar nominations for ‘The Prestige’, ‘The Dark Knight’, ‘Interstellar’ and ‘Dunkirk’ respectively.

Born in London, Nathan attended Brighton School of Art in England and started his career as a set designer on feature films such as ‘Hook’ and ‘Star Trek: Deep Space Nine’. Over his illustrious career, Nathan has collaborated on multiple Irish productions including ‘Falling For a Dancer’, ‘The Tale of Sweety Barrett’, ‘Veronica Guerrin’ and ‘Braveheart’.

Nathan has also worked with the great American director Michael Mann on the prohibition crime thriller ‘Public Enemies’ starring Johnny Depp. More recently, he has been nominated for a Primetime Emmy award for his work as the Series Concept Production Designer on the hit HBO series ‘Westworld’. Oscar-winning director, Damien Chazelle also worked with Nathan for the upcoming Neil Armstrong biopic ‘First Man’.

Outside of film production design, Nathan was brought on board as the Designer on four of the Metropolitan Museum of Art (Met) Costume Galas that accompany the costume ball in New York every May. Under his designs, the Galas have explored the themes ‘Super Heroes,’ ‘American Women,’ ‘Impossible Conversations’ and ‘China through the looking glass.’
