IFTA members at the the Celtic Media Festival 2017

Best of luck to all the Irish talent and the IFTA Winners and nominated projects from the IFTA 2017 Film & Drama Awards and the IFTA Gala Television Awards 2016 that are nominated at this year’s Celtic Media Festival. Previous winners include – The Savage Eye, One Million Dubliners, Boogaloo and Graham and documentary Crumlin. The Celtic Media festival takes place in Douglas, Isle of man. 3rd – 5th May 2017

  • 	2144	Second to None
    Vincent Gallagher
    IFTA Film & Drama Winner 2017 Animations

    Frederick Butterfield has always been runner up to his twin brother Herman. When Herman, the older by a mere minute, becomes the world's oldest man, Frederick finally sees an opportunity to be first place. 'Second to None' is a stop-motion comedy about ambition, where second best is never enough.

  • 	2032	A Fanatic Heart: Bob Geldof on WB Yeats
    Winner IFTA Gala Television Awards 2016 - Specialist Factual

    Bob Geldof explores the life of Irish poet WB Yeats, arguing that Yeats was the vanguard of a cultural revolution bringing about immense change in Ireland's struggle for independence, without firing a bullet. With appearances from Noel Gallagher, Bono, Colin Farrell, Van Morrison, Liam Neeson and more.

  • 	2079	Bridget & Eamon
    Winner IFTA Gala Television Awards 2016 - Comedy & Director Television

    Bridget & Eamon are the typical unhappily married 80s Irish couple. They live somewhere in the Midlands with their indeterminate number of children. Chain-smoking Bridget has notions. She wants the lifestyle from the pages of Woman's Way but wouldn't want to think about how much it would cost to heat South Fork.

  • 	2097	Centenary
    Winner IFTA Gala Television Awards 2016 - Live Event

    Some of Ireland's best known singers, musicians and performers came together for Centenary, a special one-off cultural celebration, and the culmination of Ireland 2017 and RTÉ's programme of events over the Easter weekend, marking the 100th anniversary of the 1916 Rising.

  • 	1951	RTÉ Investigates - Standards in Public Office
    Winner IFTA Gala Television Awards 2016 - Current Affairs

    This groundbreaking RTÉ Investigates programme which examined hundreds of thousands of documents, revealed the failure of almost 40% of public representatives in Ireland to comply with ethics legislation. Using undercover filming the programme also revealed how some individuals sought personal rewards to carry out their work as a public representative.

  • 	2064	Big Week On The Farm
    Nominee IFTA Gala Television Awards 2016 - Live Event

    Big Week On The Farm is a week-long live factual entertainment event that follows one of the busiest weeks for both farmers and nature as Spring begins. It captures the secret life of the farm and all those who dwell in her and around her at a time of year when the seasons and its body changes colour and shape.

  • 	2147	The Lost Letter
    Kealan O' Rourke
    IFTA Film & Drama Nominee 2017 Animations

    The Lost Letter' tells the tale of a young boy whose love for Christmas is not dampened by his mean spirited neighbour, who doesn't want the holiday to come at all.

  • 	1916	Eipic
    IFTA Gala Television Nominee 2016

    Eipic is an off-beat low-fi comedy drama following the fortunes of five rural Irish teenagers who take over their local abandoned post office to start a musical revolution. And why is he doing this? Well, because a mysterious online friend who looks remarkably like Michael Collins told him to. Obvs.
