The Irish Film & Television Academy (IFTA) has announced that the 11th Annual Irish Film and Television Awards ceremony will take place on Saturday, 5TH April 2014 at Dublin’s DoubleTree by Hilton Burlington Road, and will be broadcast live on RTÉ One at 9.35pm. Last year’s ceremony attracted a record audience of 1.24 million viewers.

Bringing the ceremony back to the newly refurbished hotel sees the IFTAs return to their roots, having previously hosted four Awards Ceremonies at the Dublin 4 location on Burlington Road since 2003.

Speaking about the Ceremony, Aine Moriarty CEO of the Irish Film & Television Academy said:

“The Academy is excited to host the annual IFTA Awards Ceremony at the DoubleTree by Hilton Burlington Road, and to acknowledge and celebrate the great work and achievements of our home industry. Nominees and Guests really enjoy the great atmosphere of the round-table format and the DoubleTree by Hilton has something very special to offer in this brand new but familiar setting. We look forward to a sense of nostalgia as we return to Burlington Road on April 5th.

David Monks, General Manager of DoubleTree by Hilton Dublin said, “The IFTA’s have returned to a familiar home but, following a recent €16m refurbishment, a brand new name and a sleek new look.

“For over 40 years we’ve welcomed stars of the screen and stage to the hotel on Burlington Road and our team of over 300 staff is fully committed to playing its role in making this event the entertainment highlight of 2014. It’s a great honour to have been once again selected to host the IFTA’s and, as the largest hotel in the capital with over 500 guest rooms, we’re ready for a thrilling, star-studded night on April 5th.”

Over 300 submissions have been received by the Academy for consideration in this year’s Awards, and Academy Members are currently viewing and voting. The Shortlisted Nominees will be announced on Thursday 27th February. The ceremony will be broadcast on RTÉ One at 9.35pm on Saturday 5th April.
