FIRST LOOK SCREENING – JIMMY'S HALL
The Irish Film & Television Academy would like to invite Members to First Look Screenings of the new Irish film Jimmy's Hall, across the country on Wednesday May 28th.
Directed by the Palme d'Or winning Ken Loach (The Wind that Shakes the Barley), Jimmy's Hall is one the most eagerly anticipated Irish films of recent years and stars many of the country's finest acting talent including Barry Ward, Simone Kirby, Jim Norton, Brian F.O'Byrne, Aisling Franciosi and Andrew Scott. Shot entirely in County Leitrim & Sligo, the film also features Irish creative talent behind the camera including Robbie Ryan (cinematography), Stephen Daly (art direction) and Eimer Ni Mhaoldomhnaigh (costume).
Synopsis
In 1921 Jimmy Gralton's sin was to build a dance hall on a rural crossroads in Ireland where young people could come to learn, to argue, to dream... but above all to dance and have fun. Jimmy's Hall celebrates the spirit of these free thinkers. The film is set in 1932 and follows events when Jimmy returned from a decade in New York and re-opened the hall. The film is freely inspired by Jimmy's life and turbulent times.
