Irish Film & Television Academy Members are invited to a First Look Screening of The Theory of Everything at The Light House Cinema, Dublin on Wednesday December 10th at 6.00pm.

Directed by Academy Award winning director James Marsh (Shadow Dancer, Man on Wire), The Theory of Everything is the extraordinary and uplifting story of one of the world’s greatest living minds, the renowned astrophysicist Stephen Hawking, and of two people defying the steepest of odds through love. The film is based on the memoir ‘Travelling to Infinity: My Life with Stephen’, by Jane Hawking. The film stars Eddie Redmayne along with Felicity Jones, Maxine Peake, Charlie Cox and Emily Watson and received critical acclaim on its US release with Rolling Stone calling it “riveting science, emotional provocation and one-of-a-kind love story all rolled into one triumphant film”.

The film’s period production design was created by Irish Academy Member & Emmy Winner John Paul Kelly (The Guard, The Lost Prince).

Synopsis

Once a healthy, active young man, Stephen Hawking (Eddie Redmayne) received an earth-shattering diagnosis at 21 years of age. With his wife Jane (Felicity Jones) fighting tirelessly by his side, Stephen embarks on his most ambitious scientific work, studying the very thing he now has precious little of - time. Together, they defy impossible odds, breaking new ground in medicine and science, and achieving more than they could ever have dreamed.
