IFTA Screening - Widows

When: October
Venue: Dublin

The Irish Film & Television Academy invites IFTA Members to a special screening of Oscar®-winning director Steve McQueen’s ‘Widows’.

In McQueen’s first feature film since the Academy Award®-winning ‘12 Years a Slave’, ‘Widows’ stars Oscar®-winning actress Viola Davis, who leads a stellar cast including Collin Farrell and Liam Neeson. Set in contemporary Chicago, amidst a time of turmoil, four women with nothing in common except a debt left behind by their dead husbands' criminal activities, take fate into their own hands and conspire to forge a future on their own terms.

Based on the novel of the same name by British author Lynda La Plante, McQueen has adapted the screenplay himself alongside ‘Gone Girl’ writer Gillian Flynn. McQueen has also produced the film alongside Arnon Milchan of New Regency Pictures and Regency Enterprises (12 Years a Slave, The Revenant) and Ian Canning and Emilie Sherman of See-Saw Films (The King’s Speech), whilst Film 4 have co-financed the project.

Members will be invited to attend this very special screen via email
