The Irish Film & Television Academy, in association with Screen Ireland, Invite you to IFTA Skills in Focus: Animation Amalgamation, a special Panel event focusing on the intersection of Animation and Live Action Filmmaking.
Featuring feature Live Action Filmmakers, Animators, and those with experience in both, as well as hybrid projects, our panel will discus what one format could bring to the other in terms of workflows and skillsets. Panellists include: Ari Folman (Where is Anne Frank? Waltz with Bashir), Nora Twomey (My Father's Dragon, The Breadwinner) and Hugh Welchman (Loving Vincent):
Ari Folman
Award-winning director, screenwriter, and producer Ari Folman has made acclaimed films, including Walz with Bashir which was nominated for an Academy Award and won a Golden Globe, and The Congress which won the European Academy Award for Best Animated Film.
His latest film, Where is Anne Frank had its acclaimed premiere at Cannes.
Nora Twomey
An Academy Award, BAFTA & Golden Globe nominated Director. She is Partner & Creative Director at Cartoon Saloon and directed The Breadwinner, which was nominated for an
Academy Award & Golden Globe, and won the Audience & Jury Awards at Annecy.
My Father’s Dragon is Nora’s third feature and second solo-directed film.
Hugh Welchman
In 2002, Welchman founded the film company BreakThru Films with whom he was the joint winner of the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film for Peter and the Wolf alongside Suzie Templeton. He co-directed the first fully painted animated feature film Loving Vincent with Dorota Kobiela which was nominated for an Academy Award.
