The Irish Film and Television Academy (IFTA) is delighted to present this special ONLINE discussion for Black Medicine with Writer/Director Colum Eastwood, Actors Antonia Campbell-Hughes, Amybeth McNulty and Orla Brady, Composer James Everett, and Producer Janine Cobain
Colm Eastwood’s confident Debut Feature Black Medicine is a dark thriller about a former anaesthetist faced with a terrible choice. The film follows black-market medic Jo (Antonia Campbell-Hughes) who carries out illegal operations for the criminal underworld. When she gives refuge to a young girl, she must choose between breaking her medical oath or crossing her ruthless employers.
The film was written and directed by filmmaker Colum Eastwood, who was tipped as a Screen International 'Star of Tomorrow' in 2020 and stars Antonia Campbell-Hughes (3096 Days, The Other Side of Sleep), Orla Brady (American Horror Story, Collateral, The Foreigner), Amybeth McNulty (Anne with an E, Morgan), John Connors (Cardboard Gangsters, King of the Travellers) and Lalor Roddy (Grabbers, Hunger).
