SENIOR FILM & TELEVISION COORDINATOR At the Irish Film & Television Academy (IFTA)

 

Job: Full Time Position - Senior Level position & remuneration.

Location: Dublin, Ireland (onsite & WFH)

Start Date: As soon as possible 

 

IFTA (the Irish Film & Television Academy) is a non-profit, all-Ireland organisation (North & South) established in 2003. The Academy encourages excellence through recognition, education and leadership in film and television and provides a platform for inspiration and creative development. IFTA has a Membership base of 1,300 screen industry professionals across 15 Chapters of discipline (directors, writers, actors, producers, cinematographers, editors, animators etc). 

 

In addition to the annual IFTA Awards ceremonies which recognise and reward Excellence in achievement for the past 23 years, the Academy delivers a year-round Programme of Learning Events & activities for its Members and the wider screen industry that help nurture and support filmmakers, creative talent and craftspeople; Masterclasses, Discussions, Forums, Acting & Casting events, Women In Focus series, Industry Networking Events, Screenings, Q&As, Lifetime Tributes & John Ford Symposium) Guest speakers have included Martin Scorsese, Judi Dench, Louis Theroux, Chloe Zhao, Todd Field, Edward Norton, Shaheen Baig, Liam Neeson, John C Reilly among others.  IFTA produces the annual Irish Academy Award Ceremonies (IFTA Awards) where guests have included Cillian Murphy, Jessie Buckley, Saoirse Ronan, Andrew Scott, Ruth Negga, Colin Farrell, Nicola Coughlan, Jamie Dornan, Caitriona Balfe, Liam Cunningham, Barry Keoghan, Alison Oliver among many others.

 

The Academy is now seeking to fill a new role of: SENIOR FILM & TELEVISION COORDINATOR

Key responsibilities :

  • Work closely with the IFTA team and management across the Academy’s programme of events to the highest possible standard and drive your approved and assigned initiatives across events & production schedules.
  • Liaise with Distributors, Studios, Publicists, Filmmakers, Cinemas, broadcasters and Venues and maintain ongoing relationships with partners, festivals and industry bodies.
  • Represent IFTA where required at international festivals, conferences, European Academy meetings, building on existing relationships and expanding the reach of the Irish Academy and the great achievements of Irish creative talent.
  • Liaise closely with other international Academies, the European Film Academy & the Federation of European Film Academies, AMPAS and BAFTA among others.
  • Liaise with AMPAS on behalf of IFTA, to manage & coordinate details for the official Submission from Ireland into the Oscar International Feature Film category each year.
  • Communicate with Irish and international talent (in front & behind the camera) while using high level of confidentiality.

     

Working across the Annual IFTA Awards:

  • Coordinate Submission entries; content, images & biographies for the Member’s online viewing and voting platform;  Prepare details for Nominee shortlist, with superb attention to detail for accuracy.
  • Work with Management to coordinate Jury invitations and requirements for the Awards Scrutineer agency, working to strict confidentiality guidelines.
  • Liaise with and support the Awards Production Team across the Awards Ceremony and TV broadcast, ensuring all Academy/ Nominee information is correct (e.g. clips packages, graphics, category & Nominee names in script etc) 
  • Work with Event team and Guest Coordinator across Nominee attendance, ticketing, seating plan, guest presenters. 

 

Working across the Academy Year-round Learning Programme: 

  • Work with IFTA team to coordinate year-round events; including IFTA Masterclasses, Discussions, Forums etc.
  • Correspond with high-profile Filmmakers, Talent & Agents regarding their participation.  
  • Liaise with the Talent and Moderator for each event; Research content subject and source related clips.
  • Manage Guest Lists, and provide support to IFTA team across event logistics.

 

Support the PR team in preparing key info, images, video/audio packages and other materials for their PR campaigns around the Awards and key other events.

 

Coordinate and ensure film & tv event details are accurate and updated across the IFTA Website and Newsletters.

 

Requirements for the role:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience within the film/arts sector in a film coordination/programming or senior administrator role with a track record of delivering high-quality outputs.
  • Extensive knowledge of and passion for the film, television & animation industry and Irish creative talent is essential.
  • Extensive experience in coordination while film festival submissions/programming experience is an advantage.
  • Excellent Communication & Administration skills, both written and oral, with strong diplomacy and professionalism.
  • Proven ability to devise and manage schedules across a varied 12 month calendar programme; working to strict deadlines with ability to assign resources where required and handle a number of tasks under pressure.
  • Highly skilled computer proficiency with excellent admin IT skills for database management, planning, scheduling, graphics and social media online tools (including Microsoft Office, Excell, Canva etc) 
  • Ability to manage confidential information with absolute discretion and a high degree of personal integrity.
  • A 3rd level Degree in Film/Arts Administration, Communications, Marketing, or similar is advantageous.
