Field has also won awards from the New York Film Critics Circle, London Film Critics' Circle, Film Independent Spirit Awards and National Board of Review, as well as the Sundance Film Festival’s Special Jury Award and the BFI’s Satyajit Ray Award.
His first feature film, In The Bedroom, received five Oscar nominations including Best Picture. His follow-up, Little Children, was released in 2006 to great acclaim, being named the Best Film of 2006 by the Los Angeles Times. He has also been prolific in the arena of commercials, short films and music videos. As an actor, he worked with directors including Stanley Kubrick (famously appearing opposite Tom Cruise in Eyes Wide Shut), Woody Allen, Carl Franklin, Nicole Holofcener and Jan de Bont.
At this special Academy Masterclass, Field will discuss his transition from acting to filmmaking and collaborations with iconic filmmakers, his unique approach to telling fresh and original stories, working with legendary actors, the role of a writer-director in adapting literature for the screen, and the massive global success of Tár.
