Jack Reynor was born 23rd January 1992 in the United States and raised in Co.Wicklow, Ireland. After performing on stage throughout his school years in Dublin and appearing in several short films Jack’s breakthrough came in 2012 with his first-lead role in the feature film What Richard Did. His role as Richard Karlsen won the Irish Film & Television Award for Best Film Lead Actor for the role in 2013, also garnering a nomination for Rising Star. Jack’s performance won widespread acclaim with The New York Observer calling it “one of the most wrenching performances seen on the screen in some time”.
Following his IFTA win, Jack was invited to become a Member to the Acting Chapter of the Irish Film & Television Academy in 2013. The actor spent much of 2013 filming a lead role in Michael Bay’s blockbuster Transformers 4: Age of Extinction alongside Mark Wahlberg and Stanley Tucci, to be released in Summer 2014. In early 2014 Jack will be directed by IFTA Rising Star Winner 2013 Gerard Barrett in the upcoming Irish feature film Glassland, co-starring Australian actress Toni Collette.
“Delighted to be nominated alongside such admirable Irish actors. It's a massive honour for me. Thanks so much to the IFTA members.”
