      John Moore (Behind Enemy Lines, Max Payne, Flight of the Phoenix) will be the focus of IFTA's upcoming Directing Masterclass. John will discuss the making of his globally sucessful box office features - addressing topics such as the development process in the studio system and directing action sequences - in addition to offering advice to IFTA Members on working outside of Ireland.

      The Irish Film & Television Academy is delighted to announce two-time Academy Award winning writer/director/producer John Lasseter (Toy Story, A Bugs Life, Cars) will be the subject of IFTA's next special In Conversation With... event. Also featured at this Animation in Focus will be a special screening of John Lasseter's latest animated film Cars 2, which he directed and wrote - a follow up to his 2006 Golden Globe winning feature Cars.

      The Irish Film and Television Academy is delighted to announce its Screenwriter-in-Residence programme at this year's Galway Film Fleadh with screenwriter Gill Dennis. Currently the Master Filmmaker in Residence at the American Film Institute, Gill Dennis will be giving a Masterclass for Screenwriters, in association with the Irish Film & Television Academy, at this year's Fleadh as well as giving one-on-one consults to IFTA Members of the Writing/Directing chapters.

      Academy Members were invited to join Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht Jimmy Deenihan at an IFTA Breakfast event was attended this morning by representatives from different chapters of the Academy and from varying sectors of the industry including producers, actors, animators and representatives from bodies such as the IFB, the SPI and the BAI. The informal event gave the Minister an opportunity to address Members and to give an overview of issues he sees arising in the sector.

      The Irish Film & Television Academy will present an exclusive preview screening of Dreaming the Quiet Man as part of IFTA's series of screenings - First Tuesdays. Directed by Sé Merry Doyle and produced by Martina Durac and Vanessa Gildea, this feature documentary recently received its international premiere in MoMA New York as part of the Culture Ireland's year long Imagine Ireland project, curated by Gabriel Byrne and the IFI.

The inagural First Tuesday presentation will be, The Borgias plus a Q&A with creator/director Neil Jordan and producer James Flynn. Starring Jeremy Irons, The Borgias premiered on America's Showtime network on Sunday, April 3rd to Showtimes's highest ever rating figures for an opening pilot in eight years.
