Cathy graduated with a degree in English from Trinity College Dublin. She was nominated for Best Actress at the IFTAs in 2015 for her portrayal of Patricia Hennessy in TV3's Red Rock. Television includes: Lead role "Maura" in the BAFTA and IFTA award winning Roy series 1, 2 & 3, for which she was also nominated for Best Actress at the IFTAs, and Single Handed.
