Roddy Doyle co-wrote the screenplay for The Commitments, for which he was awarded a Bafta in 1991, and wrote the screenplays for The Snapper, The Van, When Brendan Met Trudy, and Rosie. He wrote the BBC series, Family. He has written twelve novels, including Paddy Clarke Ha Ha Ha.
Owen McCafferty is a well-respected Irish playwrite and this film Ordinary Love, starring Liam Neeson & Lesley Manville is his debut screenplay. His 2003 play Scenes from the Big Picture, produced at the National Theatre in London, won the John Whiting Award, the Evening Standard's Charles Wintour Award for New Playwriting and the Meyer-Whitworth Award. This was the first time a playwright had won all three awards in one year.
Joe Murtagh is a London-born Irish writer. His first feature, CALM WITH HORSES, premiered at TIFF 2019. He is currently writing an Irish Spaghetti-Western called DREADFUL NED and an original series about the Magdalene Laundries called THE WOMAN IN THE WALL. Joe was a 2016 Screen International Star of Tomorrow.
Mark O'Halloran's writing credits include the multi award winning films GARAGE and Adam & Paul, as well as the television series PROSPERITY. He also wrote Viva, a Spanish language feature set in Havana Cuba. His latest screenplay Rialto premiered at the 2019 Venice Film Festival. Mark's work has been seen at Cannes, Berlin, Toronto, Telluride and Sundance festivals.
Tom Sullivan's first film Asal premiered at the Galway Film Festival and won the Tiernan McBride award for Best Short Drama, as did his second short Mechanic two years later. Tom's next film, Personal Development, had its North American premiere at Tribeca FF in 2015. Tom directed Fir Bolg, a 6 part comedy drama that won an IFTA TV award for best Irish production.
Carmel Winters is an award-winning writer and director for stage and screen. Her debut feature film SNAP won her Best Irish Feature and Best Director within the Dublin Critics's Circle. Carmel was awarded the FIPRESCI Prize for the Discovery Programme at the Toronto International Film Festival following the world premiere of this, her second feature FLOAT LIKE A BUTTERFLY.
