Big Week On The Farm is a week-long live factual entertainment event that follows one of the busiest weeks for both farmers and nature as Spring begins. It captures the secret life of the farm and all those who dwell in her and around her at a time of year when the seasons and its body changes colour and shape.
Some of Ireland's best known singers, musicians and performers came together for Centenary, a special one-off cultural celebration, and the culmination of Ireland 2016 and RTÉ's programme of events over the Easter weekend, marking the 100th anniversary of the 1916 Rising.
The Laochra show celebrated the broadest community of people who have participated in the GAA movement since the 1916 Rising, while acknowledging the great wealth of Irish Culture through the ages. Featuring cast of hundreds of dancers and performers, and thousands of volunteers, this spectacular live show aired to mass audiences on TG4 and the internet proving a huge hit with audiences of all ages.
On Easter Sunday, RTÉ mounted one of its biggest-ever Outside Broadcast operations to deliver live coverage of the main State commemoration ceremony and parade in Dublin, marking the centenary of the 1916 Rising. From early morning ceremonies to the formal commemoration at the GPO, RTÉs pictures were seen across Ireland and the world.
