IFTA is delighted to invite Irish Film & Television Academy Members to an exclusive preview of the new documentary The Irish in Hollywood, followed by a festive drinks reception. This film traces the roots of Irish talent in Hollywood down through the ages and examines the historical and cultural impact that these men and women have left in Ireland, Hollywood and the World.

The Irish Film and Television Academy is delighted to announce details of An Evening With Des Carey, Digital Intermediate Producer & Visual Effects Supervisor. A native of Dublin, Des has spent the last 15+ years living in California and working in the US film industry. As an apprentice of George Lucas in the early '90s, Des has been at the forefront of the VFX & Digital Finishing industry. Some of Des' credits include Pirates of the Caribbean, Terminator: Salvation, Watchmen, Quantum of Solace, Transformers & 300.

IFTA is delighted to announce that Irish Film & Television Academy Members will be among the first in Ireland to see Disney's eagerly anticipated feature TRON: Legacy at the film's Irish Premiere screening on 8th of December in Dublin's Savoy Cinemas. One of the most highly anticipated releases of the year, TRON: Legacy picks up on the TRON story last visited in 1982.

Wilson's short film The Door won an IFTA in 2009 and received an Oscar Nomation in the category of Best Live Action Short in 2010.

The Irish Film & Television Academy is delighted host an Exclusive Preview Screening of Made In Dagenham, the latest feature film from Calendar Girls and Saving Grace director Nigel Cole. The film stars award winning actress Sally Hawkins as Rita O'Grady who is the catalyst for the 1968 Ford Dagenham strike by 187 sewing machinists which led to the advent of the Equal Pay Act.

Emmy winning Irish director Dearbhla Walsh is the subject of our next 'In Conversation with...' event. Walsh won a primetime Emmy award in 2009 for her work on the BBC period drama series Little Dorrit and has been nominated for four IFTAs. With IFTA winning producer Ed Guiney leading the discussion, Ms Walsh will discuss Directing for Television with Members of the Academy, sharing her experiences of working in Ireland on The Tudors and The Silence and abroad on projects such as Shameless, Eastenders and Little Dorrit.
